The Siskiyou County Economic Development Council also recently released a report prepared by Dr. Gallo with the Center for Economic Development at CSU Chico. Project Facts
Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) has entered into an agreement to purchase spring water from the McCloud Community Services District (MCSD). NWNA proposes to build a multi-million dollar Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water bottling facility in McCloud, CA that will bring environmentally sound, sustainable economic development to Siskiyou County. For an overview of the project, please click here.

Economic Impact
An economic impact report, prepared for NWNA by Dr. Robert Smiley, Economist and former Dean of UC Davis Graduate School of Management, finds that the construction and operation of the planned Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water facility in Siskiyou County will create considerable economic benefits for the local and regional economy. For highlights of the report, please click here.

Environmental Review Process (CEQA/NEPA)
Before construction on the proposed project can begin, NWNA must pass a thorough environmental review to meet state and federal standards for environmental safety and protection under the CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) and NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) – which has been underway for over a year. The lead agency, the Siskiyou County Planning Department, and the McCloud Community Services District selected Pacific Municipal Consultants of Mt. Shasta to conduct the study and coordinate with local, state and federal agencies to examine the environmental impacts of the proposed project.

To find out the latest information regarding the NWNA environmental review process, please contact the Siskiyou County Planning Department at (530) 842-8200.

Myths and Facts
Nestle Waters has prepared a Myth v Fact document to clarify some of the misinformation about the project. For a copy of the document click here.

Road Easement Agreement
In the wake of the Cal Cedar mill purchase-agreement announced in early 2005, NWNA achieved another milestone in October 2004 when the company announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire a 60-foot easement connecting State Highway 89 to the site of the proposed spring water bottling factory. The easement, containing an existing dirt road that is separate from the main road leading into and out of McCloud, would be improved and maintained by NWNA and is a significant step towards fulfilling NWNA’s promise to keep truck traffic from entering and exiting through the town of McCloud. Community
NWNA is deeply committed to having a positive impact in the communities in which our facilities are located. As a good neighbor, this commitment includes active involvement and support of community projects striving to build a better neighborhood and environment in which to live and work. McCloud-Arrowhead Community Enhancement Program (MACEP)
NWNA is dedicated to providing support for the areas where we live and work.

In McCloud, we will establish the McCloud-Arrowhead Community Enhancement Program (MACEP) – an annual fund of $100,000 to be applied solely by the McCloud Community Services District to be used at its own discretion. The apportionment of the MACEP funds will be managed by MCSD and the community. NWNA will have no control over the way these funds are spent.

We also offer donations and gift resources to local schools and charities, sponsor local community events and encourage our employees to volunteer in the community.
